Azalea at Cinnaminson was named for the azalea farm that was located on the original site. Azalea is an independent, assisted living, and memory care residence in Cinnaminson, New Jersey across the Delaware from Philadelphia. The location allows for all the conveniences of a major city in a small community setting; high quality medical facilities are nearby, and residents can feel confident that they will have easy access to medical appointments and additional care services when the need arises. The building was designed for all levels of care spaces to be light and airy with large windows and wide corridors; residents can choose from spacious studio, one bedroom, and two bedroom apartments. The design encourages community living with a “Main Street“, a concept inspired by Westrum Development, that features a General Store, a Bistro, a Pub, a salon, a spa, and a theater; residents of all levels of care are encouraged to enjoy the amenities.
Azalea is planned as a village in and of itself, with a lovely Main Street that mimics the main streets of the towns where residents raised their families. It incorporates many shops and activities that populate main streets in most American towns, giving residents a place to stroll and activities to keep them entertained and active. Main Street expands to include common spaces on the adjacent side streets on both the main and second floors. It is dotted with outdoor facades that are reminiscent of charming shops in the surrounding historical villages and a perpetually blue sky.
The “look-down” on the second floor provides residents with a view of what is happening on Main Street and allows for a transition between the first floor and the second. It is surrounded by the Club and Café space with doors that lead to the second floor deck.
The Game Room welcomes residents to challenge each other to an active game of pool or a friendly table-tennis tournament. For those who would rather pursue an activity that isn’t quite so strenuous, there are a variety of video games to play, and tables that can be used for cards, board-games, or chess. The game room is also intended as a fun space for visiting children.
The Third Floor Conservatory can be used for meetings, informal gatherings, and spiritual reflection. The beautiful windows allow for a gorgeous view of the Philadelphia skyline.
The facades for Main Street were inspired by local landmarks in Cinnaminson and the surrounding towns. The retro Diner is reminiscent of Pandora’s Diner on Route 130.
The General Store was inspired by Hunter’s Farm Market, a family-owned farm market that is still in operation after being established many generations ago.
The entrance to the Main Dining Room features elements of the historic Riverton Yacht Club.
Having a plethora of diverse activities is essential for any community. The additional amenities at Azalea are designed to bring residents together, regardless of level of care. The theater is one activity that can be enjoyed by everyone! Additional amenities include a pub, arts and crafts room, salon, workout room, and transportation services.
The apartments are geared towards the individual needs of the residents, but no matter what size, they are bright, airy and functional. When a resident tires of a long day of activities, they need to feel that their personal space is a place of relaxation and respite, a place where they can feel comfortable entertaining, and safe and secure when they are alone. They include studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments with charming, efficient kitchen spaces, well-appointed bathrooms, and large windows for light and air flow.
The Dining Room is not just for eating! Residents can relax in front of the fire while socializing or while listening to the music flowing from the artist at the baby grand piano. Afterwards, they can head out the glass doors to view the sunset or watch the first stars appear in the night sky. Azalea at Cinnaminson allows many dining opportunities beyond eating in resident apartments.
