Fountaingate Gardens
Fountaingate Gardens (Commack, NY) is Long Island’s newest independent senior living community, creating a Life Plan Community on the Gurwin Healthcare System campus. The 11-acre project is part of a 36-acre campus and consists of three wood-frame structures with steel and concrete foundations. Two buildings are residential: The Terraces (27 apartments) received its Certificate of Occupancy in May 2022, and The Parkview (102 apartments) received its Certificate of Occupancy in August 2022. There is open land and plans are complete to expand the community by additional residential structures in a Phase II build, should the market support it. The project is seeking USGBC’s LEED v4 BD+C: Multifamily Midrise certification.
The third building, The Clubhouse, is the community’s centerpiece. With 26’ vaulted lobby and central dining room ceilings, the Clubhouse was designed to be bright, airy, open and inviting. Natural light floods the building from skylights and large picture windows.
The site is connected to a 150,000 gpd private sewage treatment plant expanded as part of the project.
The Lobby is the heart of The Clubhouse, where residents can speak with the Concierge, meet up with friends, or sit and wait for a class to begin. Comfortable chairs and a hydration station make it warm and welcoming.
The Bistro is an open-kitchen concept for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and grab-n-go options. The Pub, with a well-appointed bar and casual seating, is located adjacent to The Bistro and offers a more relaxed environment for informal food and spirits, including seating that encourages joining friends to play cards or watch the game. A more formal dining setting is found in The Fireside Restaurant, with white-glove dining service and Blue Zone-inspired meals that are appealing while promoting health and wellness.
In The Clubhouse, one can find the intimate theater and multi-purpose rooms; just open the acoustical doors to create a single ample gathering space for larger events. Residents stay in shape working out in the well-equipped Fitness Center with a personal trainer; swimming laps or attending water aerobics in the 50’ long indoor, saltwater pool; or participating in yoga or Tai Chi in the spa/wellness center. The Salon, with two hairstyling stations, pedicure stations and manicure tables, has everything a resident might need to stay looking and feeling their best.
