Asaro’s Parkside Diner was conceived to create a new dining experience for the Independent Living residents at Friendship Village Sunset Hills. Since many of the residents are active and on-the-go, Asaro’s offers an option which feels a bit less formal. The space was previously the dining area of the Care Center. The decor and menu were designed to be reminiscent of a 1950s-style diner and the residents absolutely love it! The dining experience is meant to be more casual and features classic dining fare like smash burgers, meatloaf sandwiches, root beer floats, cheese fries and other class diner items. Also served are more contemporary creations, like a grilled chicken and brie panini, as well as a German braunschweiger sandwich plate, which was specially-requested by our residents. Friendship Village Sunset Hills is thrilled to add this unique dining option and couldn’t be happier with the positive responses from residents!
The walls are adorned with high-gloss images featuring St. Louis landmarks, signage and other famous sites that would be familiar to many of our residents who grew up around the history of St. Louis. All the seating is bright, red vinyl, the dishes, coffee cups and milkshake glasses are all reminiscent of the 1950s and add a classic touch. The use of “Friendship Red,” is a color theme used throughout the campus and in our marketing branding.
