The Gallery at North Port

Located in central North Port, the unique site of the Gallery at North Port provides access to downtown, various parks, and emergency and medical services for its residents. This integration with various community environments and services creates social opportunities, making the site ideal for older adults. The owners and planning staff installed several large metal sculptures along the perimeter of the site, such as a bird of paradise and a seashell, to beautify the space for pedestrians of all ages.

Due to the site’s proximity to the city center, The City of North Port had exterior design guidelines, which included prescribing exterior architecture that was inspired by a Mediterranean Revival aesthetic. The design team worked to create articulation of this façade through changes in plane and use of features like balconies and trellises. Additional meetings beyond the base requirement were scheduled with planning staff to assure the design team was exceeding their expectations.
