ASSISTED LIVING

The Holbrook of Sugar HIll

Located just a short walk from Sugar Hill’s City Center with its performing arts center, skating center, restaurants and outdoor amphitheater, The Holbrook provides the opportunity for residents to play an active role in the community.

The entry plaza with its naturalistic waterfall feature extends and becomes a part of the City Center landscape providing an informal gathering spot for residents and passers-by to interact. With its sweeping pitched roofs and large patios and balconies, The Holbrook maintains the charm and warmth of a grand single-family residence that transitions between the large-scale multifamily developments rising around the city center and the single-family residential neighborhoods adjoining the city center.

The attention to traditional architectural detailing characteristic of Craftsmen style homes and the blending of stone and wood siding in subtle earth tones create an inviting residence that blends into the environment rather than conflicting with it.The attention to detail and quality design extends into the interior of the building where living rooms, dining rooms, libraries, activity spaces and hallways are accentuated with wood trim, beams, wainscots and moldings. Stone fireplaces create strong focal points in the shared living spaces that encourage interaction between residents throughout the day and evening. The layout of the building with its three wings creates private courtyards with amenities that entice residents to be outside with others.

The Holbrook of Sugar Hill creates a warm, protected environment where one can feel at home while having access to the assistance needed to help maintain one’s lifestyle and remain an active participant in the community.

Inspired by Craftsman homes, The Holbrook embraces the materials and details characteristic of the style. The gable fronts sweeping rooflines, tapered interior columns and board-and-batten wainscots work together to create the warmth and charm associated Craftsman style residences.

We worked closely with city planners to ensure the Holbrook maintains elements common to the City Center development, including site lighting, sidewalks and landscaping with established criteria. A public plaza with a water feature encourages interaction between residents and the public.

Amenities include dining venues, a fitness center, art center, hydrotherapy pool, putting green, bocce court, outdoor dining, hair salon, and activity rooms. Promoting a lifestyle that incorporates choices associated with “Blue Zones” – healthy diet, socialization, exercise, active and engaged role in community.

With a subdued color palette, wallcoverings add texture and energy to the spaces. Varied accent colors in the wings aid wayfinding. Tall, paned windows with transoms invite ample sunlight, which is augmented by ceiling lighting on dimmers. Beautiful and durable flooring materials easily accommodate wheelchairs and walkers and prevent tripping hazards.
