Morgan Hill Senior Housing is a vibrant, community-focused environment built around the goal of improving the quality of life of seniors in the South Bay of Northern California. Located in Morgan Hill, California, this affordable housing apartment building caters to low-income seniors facing challenges like homelessness, disabilities, poverty, and institutional residency. In addition to meeting the housing needs of local seniors, the community is collaborating with the Santa Clara Health Plan (SCFHP) to help serve those with special needs. The collaboration between HumanGood Affordable Housing and Sunnyvale Life, Inc. played a crucial role in the community development of this project.

The building’s design was based on blending sustainability and a sense of community. Morgan Hill Senior Housing is an all-electric project and is GreenPoint Rated Platinum.
Upon entering, people are greeted at the reception desk, with open views of the main corridor and mailroom. Custom wood wall panels offer a warm welcome and a variety of textures. An inviting lobby welcomes residents and visitors with timeless design, a cozy fireplace, and a variety of comfortable seating and lounging configurations.
The community is rich in amenities, providing residents with multiple areas to socialize and connect with one another. These include a welcoming lobby, a spacious community room, a media room, and a fitness room. The central courtyard, BBQ area, raised bed vegetable garden and a third-floor roof deck offer outdoor areas where residents can relax and enjoy fresh air, further enhancing their well-being. All these spaces serve as natural gathering spots, promoting social engagement and making it easy for residents to form connections. The community’s layout and amenities are carefully designed to support aging in place, ensuring that residents can maintain their independence while having access to everything they need.
Additionally, the community’s convenient location ensures residents have easy access to nearby shops, restaurants, and essential services. This accessibility allows seniors to remain active and engaged with the broader community, reducing feelings of isolation and promoting a more integrated lifestyle.
Morgan Hill Senior Housing partners with SCFHP to improve health outcomes for seniors. Fourteen units are reserved for special needs residents transitioning from skilled nursing to independent living. Without this support, many seniors risk prolonged institutionalization, leading to declining health and increased healthcare costs. SCFHP coordinates care and support services, addressing medical and social needs to enhance residents’ well-being. To further assist, SCFHP will provide an on-site case manager at the site for at least 20 hours a week to help these seniors transition smoothly to independent living and back into the community.
