ASSISTED LIVING NOMINEE

Providence Living at Pembroke Pines

The design inspiration for Providence Living at Pembroke was drawn from the Florida Keys, a direction our client requested and the design team uniquely translated. The exteriors were crafted with all-concrete construction, pitched metal roofs, and lap siding and trim details. Neutral whites and colorful pastels were used on the walls, accentuated with simulated coral stone and natural wood trellises for added texture. The use of tropical landscaping, including colorful plantings, subdivides the courtyards into smaller outdoor rooms, further enhancing the design of this senior living community. The interiors continue with the beachy theme by combining timeless whites and creams with painted and natural woodwork, striking upholstery, eye-catching patterns, coastal furniture styles, distinctive tiles, and textured lighting. An art package puts an exclamation point on the community’s unique South Florida vibe. Our client connected personally with this community and allowed the design team to include touches like a display of family recipes and quirky family photos within the art package, a collaboration that added a personal touch to the project.

Fitting all the eggs in one basket was the initial challenge. The program required 90 assisted living beds and 40 memory care beds and their supporting areas on a small site. We utilized a double donut-shaped building to achieve this while maximizing premium units, allowing 76% of the units to face either the courtyard or the canal waterfront. Accommodating the 40 memory care units necessitated a two-story design, with its donut shape forming a private and secure courtyard. The rest of the project involved typical challenges that the design team, having collaborated on multiple prior projects, overcame with relative ease, often with the adept assistance of our GC partner.

Upon arrival, the meticulously crafted entry experience immediately stands out, evoking the elegance of a world-class resort. The vibrant paver roundabout, framed by majestic royal palms and lush, colorful plantings, leads to the multifaceted massings of the porte-cochère, building elevations, and rooflines. Inside, the welcoming reception area offers a comfortable ambiance, with a bright-lit vista beyond, hinting at the secret gardens of the tropical courtyard.

The Assisted Living amenities feel more like offerings usually reserved for 55+ communities. They include a grand salon living area with fireplace and comfortable seating, a bar with peek-a-boo courtyard views, a Spanish-style bistro, a glamorously fun salon, upscale dining and private dining, a theater, a card room/ library combo with vibrant and unexpected color, and a fitness room. Each space has a distinct character while remaining cohesive with the community.

Memory Care spaces are soft and residential in feel. Yet, they still have unique and fun touches, such as cheerful colors and patterns, expansive courtyard views, ample natural light, aviaries, and a noteworthy bubble wall that is simultaneously soothing and energizing.

The resident units in both levels of care provide neutral, warm finishes, allowing each resident to personalize their new home.
