AFFORDABLE HOUSING

Sawyer’s walk

Sawyer’s Walk at Block 55 is a nationally significant model for mixed-use, affordable housing development that has addressed Miami’s housing affordability crisis. Its residences comprise the largest affordable senior housing community built on a single site in the U.S. in the past decade, delivering 578 high-quality residences for low-income seniors that is fully leased in Overtown, a historically black community.

Spanning 1.5 million square feet, this transformative urban project was spearheaded by SG Holdings, a partnership amongst Swerdlow Group, SJM Partners, and Alben Duffie. The project’s fully leased retail component, totaling 175,000 square feet, has also welcomed the first Aldi Supermarket and Target store to open in Downtown Miami, as well as high-demand tenants such as Five Below, Burlington, and Ross Dress for Less, providing essential goods and services to the project’s senior residents and the surrounding community.
