Social inclusivity and a strong sense of community are core principles that underpin Mariner Marblehead’s design. Beyond that, this is a place that embodies a distinct sense of identity. The community has a distinct connection to the rich history and character of Marblehead, a coastal town with a charming heritage. The design incorporates local traditions, locally sourced décor and architectural features that evoke the town’s unique character.
Featuring two-story tall ceilings connecting the entryway as a hub to the balance of the community, the Mariner Lobby features unique design elements such as: a custom maritime wall installation, custom lighting reminiscent of the movement in sails, a front desk design with wood details in harmony with the hull of a ship, maritime signal flags, and a serene backsplash with tile mimicking waves.
Hannah’s Cove is the well-loved community reading space and home to 1 of 3 custom model ships. The replica model ship, “The Hannah” is 50′ x 42′ and is encased here with full custom millwork. The schooner was hired into the service of the American Continental Army by General George Washington, was the first armed American naval vessel of the American Revolution and is the founding vessel of the United States Navy. She was a fishing schooner owned by John Glover of Marblehead, Massachusetts and was named for his daughter, Hannah Glover.
Just off the Pier Café sits the Harbor Room, a beautifully-appointed relaxation area with multiple nooks for visiting with family, enjoying the fireplace, or sipping a cup of coffee.
With 270 degrees of windows, the Reef Studio is an artist’s natural light dream – residents can also spill out onto the adjoining deck for added light and inspiration.
In The Colonial Theatre, residents enjoy popping some homemade popcorn and sitting back to enjoy a flick or two. Posters adorning the walls throughout pay homage to a wide array of locally filmed classics, like Jaws and Hocus Pocus.

The Anchorage Pub is a favorite casual dining and libations choice for residents and families. It is appointed with a stunning slate counter and welcoming curved shape to mimic a ship hull and deck. Maritime rope details flanking the dining room. The details consist of custom millwork.
The Little Harbour is a cozy space to sit by the fire, sip a drink, and enjoy a small bite. Featuring a gas fireplace, model sailboat and wood beams.
The entrance to the Pier Café features custom wood plant ceiling treatments, a full-service café and a custom embedded compass rose – pointing true North.
