Towne Plaza at the Bluffs of Meramec Bluffs
Repurposing an underused long term care space, Lutheran Senior Services created a new model in senior living: Towne Plaza at the Bluffs.
Inspired by a dementia village model in the Netherlands, LSS is the first to open their own model in the region, possibly the U.S., as a new assisted living memory support neighborhood in the Meramec Bluffs life plan community.
Every detail of the redesign was based on research, LSS’s foundational standards, and the latest dementia care recommendations from the National Alzheimer’s Foundation.

It’s all about the resident experience at Towne Plaza. Residents engage all their senses in destinations such as the Harmony Garden, where residents can play musical instruments; a floral shop with hands-on activities; a general store; an art studio; a pet shop with robotic animals and a full-sized aquarium; a “living garden” wall; and more.

Dining rooms look like open-air cafes, and the community aims to provide residents with the feeling that they are strolling through town and looking at shops along the way.
The temperate California climate also encourages an indoor/outdoor lifestyle, inspiring our members to enjoy
outdoor dining and lounging next to the fireplace in our courtyard.

The community also incorporates leading-edge technologies, including Tovertafel tabletop gaming consoles and Gateway to the World, which immerses residents in virtual reality experiences.
Towne Plaza can accommodate up to 36 assisted living memory support residents. Staffing not only includes a team of nurses, certified nursing assistants, and certified medication technicians, but also music therapists and recreational therapists, to provide additional support and opportunities for residents.
Designed to offer each member an elevated and engaged life, including the Elegant Palmer Library and Lobby.
