WELLNESS: HEALTH & FITNESS

Trinity Woods

This project demonstrates the community’s commitment to the whole-person wellness of its members, particularly expanding opportunities to improve social and intellectual wellness. The client boldly undertook a project that added no additional living units but rather enhanced amenity offerings for all existing members on campus. In a previous phase of work, the community added a physical wellness center including fitness rooms and a pool, but the team knew this was not enough to satisfy the needs of their active and purpose-driven members.

This new Community Life Center provides a variety of scales and formality in gathering spaces to support planned and spontaneous activities. An auditorium with a stage and full backstage area provides opportunities for outside groups to perform for members – in fact, partners are actively seeking out this client to use this one-of-a-kind space in the area. Two classrooms at the rear of the auditorium can be used independently or opened to provide overflow space for concerts, banquets, and other events. A catering kitchen and refreshment space enhance the functionality of this space, and ample light-filled pre-function spaces offer inviting opportunities for members and guests to mingle before and after events.
