The Farms is a senior living community rich in amenities, luxury apartments, and custom homes. Due to the 2008-2009 recession and other market factors, this is a project 15 years in the making—a project reassessed and redesigned several times. While this posed numerous challenges (construction schedules, product selections, value engineering), it also provided the opportunity for the provider to incorporate feedback from future residents. The design has an intentional focus on indoor/outdoor living, culinary choices, and cultural experiences. The end result is a community that speaks to the next generation of seniors.
The Farms promotes what’s called Return on Life—getting the most out of every day and focusing on what’s most important to the resident.
The two-story entry area features a focal fireplace and glimpses of the amenity-rich offering in the spaces beyond. A large-scale porcelain tile in the lobby was a carefully considered specification to achieve the aesthetic impact while being functional and budget conscious.
Brick cladding from the focal point fireplace in the lobby is integrated into a feature wall in Charlie’s Steakhouse. It achieves richness and visual impact while being more cost-effective than full masonry.
