RENOVATION / REPOSITIONING (BUILDING) NOMINEE

bay village

In 2017, Bay Village CEO Eric Nichols attended a LeadingAge Florida session led by Melissa Pritchard of SFCS about Cypress Cove’s newly completed Memory Care households. Mr. Nichols then attended SFCS’s By Design Conference in early 2018, where there were more in-depth discussions about an SFCS and Bay Village partnership. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Nichols purchased several residential lots about a quarter mile south from the main campus. SFCS performed a preliminary site study to determine if the site was large enough for a Memory Care building and how many Memory Care resident units could fit on that site. The master planning design effort kicked off in Fall of 2018 and was completed early 2019. In conjunction with the master planning phase, SFCS started the IL Corridor Interior Renovations, to start sparking interest of the upcoming renovations. These renovations included updated finishes, brighter LED lighting, and complete updating of each IL resident commons area. The residents had early ownership of this design, as each floor of residents was able to choose from one of the SFCS designed color/finish schemes for their floor. Three to four entire floors were renovated at one time starting mid-2019 until mid-2022.

The main lobby was opened to the dining areas through a collection of gathering spaces flowing together intentionally emphasizing the theme of socialization among residents and staff.

The design represents a refined Floridian style with intentions to create an environment that is warm and welcoming, bold, and inspiring. Nautically inspired finishes and décor set the tone and establish an understanding of the reimagined vision for Bay Village.

Designed to offer each member an elevated and engaged life, including the Elegant Palmer Library and Lobby.

Dining Before | After

Updating the single, main dining room to modern expectations and to liven the commons was a major focus. Through discussions and focus groups, this one room became multiple venues with unique identities to offer options to current and future residents and their guests.
